Crystal Sedillo is a lifelong Texan, a communicator by training, and an advocate driven by a deep belief that every community deserves to be heard. Born in Wharton County and raised in Matagorda County, Crystal understands firsthand the challenges families face, from underfunded schools and limited health care access to the economic barriers that hold rural communities back. Her campaign is rooted in a simple promise: to bring honesty, accessibility, and real solutions back to the Texas Legislature.
Crystal earned her bachelor’s degree in communication from Texas A&M–Victoria, where she discovered her voice as a writer, researcher, and advocate. Her professors helped shape her commitment to ethical communication, truth seeking, and public service, values that continue to guide her work today.
Before entering public life, Crystal spent four years working in education, where she saw up close how policy decisions made in Austin affect classrooms, teachers, and students. That experience strengthened her belief that public schools are the heart of strong communities and deserve leaders who will fight for them. She has also been deeply involved in community advocacy, using her skills in research, writing, and public speaking to elevate issues that matter to working families.
Crystal is running for the Texas House because she believes District 30 deserves a representative who listens, collaborates, and leads with integrity. Her priorities include strengthening public education, expanding access to affordable health care, protecting voting rights, and creating economic opportunities in communities that have been left behind.
Above all, Crystal is committed to building a Texas where every person, regardless of ZIP code, income, or background, has the chance to thrive. She is running not for a title, but for the people she grew up with, the educators who shaped her, and the future Texans who deserve a better path forward.
What I Stand For
Affordability
I constantly advocate for the needs of working families in Texas. No one knows the struggle like we do. Currently, we have a bunch of privileged people making decisions about what they think is best for working class Texans. They don't have a clue.
As your State Representative I will support policies that
- Lower the cost of living & raise minimum wage
- Invest in infrastructure
- Ensure all working Texans are able to afford a decent accommodating home within a reasonably commutable distance from their workplace

Education
I believe every Texas child deserves access to a high- quality public education, regardless of their ZIP code or their family's income. Strong schools are the foundation of strong communities and investing in our schools means investing in the future of Texas.
Having spent four years working in education, I have seen first-hand how many of our students get left behind. I have witnessed how decision made in Austin affect our classrooms, teachers, students, and families. Teachers are being asked to do more with less, while schools face increasing costs and communities are struggling to provide the resources students need to succeed. Our public schools are underfunded and underperforming.
Vouchers create competition for education dollars that public schools desperately need. I believe our tax dollars should first ensure that Texas public schools have the resources to provide every student with a quality education. Those public tax dollars become less accountable under school choice. Public schools serve every child regardless of ability, income, or circumstance. and they should not have to do more with less.
A well-educated workforce is what keeps the Texas economy competitive. Underfunding schools is a future economic risk, not just a values issue. Texas public educators aren't asking for a blank check. They are asking for smaller class sizes, more counselors, ending high-stakes testing, and fair pay.
As your State Representative, I will advocate for
- Fully funding public education
- Supporting our teachers and school staff
- Ensuring that taxpayer dollars are used responsibly and transparently.
- Repealing Vouchers
Our Educators should be able to focus on educating, not constantly fighting for the resources their students need.
Border Security & Immigration
I support the detainment and deportation of immigrants with criminal records, but deporting families who have been contributing to our communities and economy without due process is cruel, unconstitutional, and harmful to our state.
Immigrants are an essential part of our workforce, especially in sectors like construction and agriculture. According to a 2025 Economic Policy Institute report, the Republican plan to deport 4 million immigrants over four years would eliminate nearly 6 million jobs — including 2.6 million held by U.S.-born workers. Additional analysis from Penn Wharton at the University of Pennsylvania finds that aggressively removing undocumented immigrants, as Republicans are currently pursuing, would increase the federal budget deficit and reduce GDP.
These findings make clear that mass deportation is not only economically damaging but also harmful to the stability and growth of our state.
As your State Representative, I will advocate for
- Providing effective border security. We should focus on smart investments in infrastructure and technology. We should also reduce the factors that motivate people to cross the border illegally, by improving the asylum system and creating mechanisms for people to work legally in the US.
- Creating pathways to citizenship that are affordable and reasonable.
- Fixing interior enforcement, without violating citizens’ rights or the human rights of non-citizens. We should return to a focus on undocumented immigrants with criminal records or who represent a threat, and immigration enforcement practices that observe US law.
Second Amendment Rights
I support Second Amendment rights, and I believe Texans can uphold those rights while still reducing the epidemic of gun violence in our state. Protecting responsible gun ownership and improving public safety are not mutually exclusive. We can respect the Constitution and take practical steps that save lives.
The United States’ gun death rate is more than ten times higher than that of other large, advanced nations, and Texas is even higher. More than 4,000 Texans are killed by firearms every year, and guns are now the leading cause of death for children in America. Since Governor Abbott took office ten years ago, gun deaths in Texas have risen by more than 50%. Despite this crisis, Republicans like Louderback have made it clear they will do nothing to address gun violence in our state. Texas families deserve leaders who take this epidemic seriously and are committed to saving lives.
As your State Representative, I will advocate for
- Raising the age for all gun purchases to 21
- Red flag laws to keep guns out of the hands of people who are a danger to themselves or others
- Investing more in mental health
Water
Water is one of Texas’ most valuable resources and protecting it must be a priority.
From our coastal communities to our rural farms and ranches, Texans depend on clean, reliable, and affordable water every day. Yet communities across Texas are facing growing pressure from population growth, drought, industrial development, and increasing demands on our water supplies.
As your State Representative, I will fight to protect our water resources and make sure local communities have a meaningful voice in decisions that affect them. That means investing in aging water and wastewater infrastructure, protecting groundwater and surface water, supporting conservation, and ensuring that large industrial and commercial projects do not place an unfair burden on local residents.
We also have a responsibility to protect our bays, rivers, wetlands, and coastal waters. Clean water is essential to our environment, our fishing and tourism industries, our farmers and ranchers, and the communities that call the Texas coast home.
Water should never be treated as an unlimited resource or an afterthought. Texas needs responsible water management that protects our communities today while preserving this precious resource for generations to come.
Existing water supplies that can be relied on during drought are projected to fall by about 10 percent between 2030 and 2080, from 15.5 million acre-feet per year to about 14.0 million acre-feet per year. Meanwhile, demand is growing as our population grows, creating a widening gap over time.
This gap exists not only because demand is rising and supply is declining, but also because much of Texas’ water is not always located where it is needed.
If recommended water strategies are not implemented, approximately one out of four Texans in 2080 would have less than half the municipal water supplies they need during a drought of record.
Without urgent action, the growing supply and demand gap will threaten health, the economy, and drought resilience.
As your State Representative, I will advocate for
- Investing in new water supply, repairing aging infrastructure, managing major industrial water demands, and expanding conservation and reuse.
- Strengthening efficiency standards for residential, commercial, and industrial water use.
- Developing desalination
Data Centers
Data centers in Texas are anticipated to use 5x more energy than the state's record energy use. They will endanger our water supplies, destroy Texas lands, and cause air and noise pollution in our communities, all while driving up costs.
I support economic development, but I believe development must be responsible, transparent, and beneficial to the people who live here. Corporations should not be allowed to receive special treatment while local taxpayers and residents are left carrying the costs.
Texas should require meaningful local input, transparency about water and energy consumption, appropriate environmental protections, and a clear accounting of the infrastructure demands associated with major data-center projects.
If data centers don't meet worker and community standards, then we shouldn't support them.
As your State Representative, I will advocate for
- Moratoriums on new data centers until Texas has the safeguards in place to protect our water, power grid, landowners, and local communities.
- Data Centers to pay their fair share
- The will of the people in my district
